ted to climate change, climate justice and social justice.

History is about to be made as the World Theatre Congress comes to Nigeria – our motherland. Yes, you heard it right. The Düsseldorfer Festival Theatre (Der Welt – Düsseldorf) will be live right here in the country.

It gives me so much pleasure to be part of this momentous opportunity to showcase Nigerian theatre to the rest of the world. It is sure promises to be an unforgettable experience starting on June 30, 2021, with the Central Global Theme: “Our House is on Fire”.

For the Nigerian delegates, the focus will be Nigeria on Substance Abuse (Drugs), a timely theatrical intervention that is anticipated to abate the alarming rate of drug abuse in the country. The insight of the festival will be among other things the many ways by which the drug abuse menace could be curtailed and how the failing walls of our society (no thanks to the adverse effects of the drugs abuse) could be rebuilt.

At this year’s edition of the world theatre event, the Seaside Cottage Theatre, Bariga, Lagos, will be partnering with The Düsseldorfer Festival Theatre for the first-ever virtual Experience of the World Young Theatre Makers Congress of the festival in Nigeria.
The Theatre Festival will combine the elements of Physical and Digital theater experiences. The focus of this festival will be an Intense physical/digital theatre Workshop session with Segun Adefila (Physical theatre), and Ayodele Arigbabu (Digital Art) to be curated by Seun Awobajo, Seun Adeleye Technical Suport.

This festival will happen in 10 different countries accords the globe with 10 delegates from each country – meeting the world’s finest theatre-makers from different parts of the globe under a new devices app and a digital mechanism (Virtual-Theatre for the Future).

Nigeria will be represented by10 Participants to meet with others on this first in history digital Art platform for young people.
