Don’t Keep Your Art in the Finger! Kieran Jina ‘HOMODRYER’

When I was a child, I was told stories by my elders and I consequently developed a passion for telling my stories.

Through my medium known as performance art. I focus on interdisciplinary artistic mode of creation by using the body as a means to communicate personal truths which consequently explore themes relevant to the society as a whole.

HOMODRYER is a personal story. This work is sadly inspired by the passing away of my second mother, our domestic worker. The societal pressure on her to conceal her HIV/AIDS status resulted not only in her early death but also the infection of her unborn child. I want to confront the stereotypes associated with the disease by exploring her story through my own body.
