It was not an unusual feeling, instead a beautiful one that remains memorable on one of those July days in 2018. The chilly city of Lagos was still looking blue and smooth.

The boardroom door of an Ikeja based diagnostic center was opened and yours truly got ushered in to defend a pitch. And what stared you on the wall? Big deal! Dele Agbezin was on the wall. A big, bold and beautiful artwork of the artist overtook the silent mode of the boardroom, turning it into an aesthetic appeal that the room deserves for boardroom gurus.

The work is an anointed piece of Dele’s metro series. A long stretch of painting of the third mainland bridge with the iconic yellow buses on the usual traffic gridlock and cacophony of chaotic decisions while on transit. The new dimension to the canvas was the addition of new metro trends and innovation of the BRT. The boardroom sparkles with Dele Agbezin George work being displayed in gigantic fashion to ratify decisions.

The pitch was eventually won to produce series of contents for the diagnostic centre and production came rolling for one of the Continuing Medical Education programs and retreats. The guests mainly medical professionals that converged in the conference room got a dose of photo shoot despite being medics. They actually got attracted to the artist metro series and a preferred backdrop for their photographs.

Dele paints with his last card. And the result is the ‘voice echo’ that emanates like an eagle ‘eye patch.’ The artworks flow like Motown sounds churning out of Detroit, though the artist works and lives in Lagos.

One unique and recurring process in Dele Agbezin George creations is the ‘story appeal’ that accompanies what we see display on canvas regularly. As if not enough for the boardroom, Dele’s other projects were later discovered in different parts and strategically positioned in the diagnostic center in Ikeja.

He’s a brother holding the brocode of success. A distinct personality with noble touch on canvas. Experimentation and experience are tools that nurtured Dele beyond being an ‘Agonyin boy’ to the Corporations embrace. His content and delivery set him apart to walk not only on the corridors of powers but adorning the boardroom walls as an art technocrat.
