The Arts for Health Unit at Taprobane Medical Center, established in 2024, is an innovative initiative dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of individuals through the transformative power of the arts.
As a secondary care health facility, Taprobane Medical Center recognizes the vital intersection between healthcare and creativity in fostering physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Vision and Mission
The Arts for Health Unit aims to primarily integrate arts into healthcare practices to:

Primarily, promote Health and Wellness Awareness: Employ arts and media to create engaging,
educational events, practices and content that raises awareness about preventative health
measures, healthy lifestyles, and mental well-being. Through storytelling, performances, and
creative campaigns, the unit seeks to empower communities with creative knowledge and tools for better health.

Secondly, to improve Clinical Outcomes: Utilize visual, performing, and digital arts as
therapeutic tools to aid patients in their recovery journeys. Artistic activities are designed to alleviate stress, improve mental health, and foster resilience among patients with chronic
illnesses, mental health conditions, or those undergoing rehabilitation.

Due to our lack of
clinically trained arts for health practitioners, our expectation and implementation of this goal is limited to maintain integrity.

Core Activities
The Arts for Health Unit operates with a holistic approach, offering a variety of programs to meet
the diverse needs ofthe public and patients:

• Art Therapy Sessions: Tailored activities in painting, sculpture, and other visual arts help patients express emotions, reduce anxiety, and regain confidence.
• Performing Arts Workshops: Music, dance, and theater are employed to boost morale,
  enhance physical mobility, and foster social connections, conversations and collaboration.
• Digital Arts and Media Projects: Interactive media and creative storytelling are used to disseminate health-related information in accessible and memorable ways.
• Outdoor Wellness Programs: Utilizing the unit’s gazebo, activities such as mindfulness art, and nature-inspired creative sessions complement traditional therapeutic interventions.

Collaboration with the Spa Unit

To provide a comprehensive wellness experience, the Arts for Health Unit collaborates with the hospital’s spa unit. Together, they offer integrated services, including relaxation therapies and creative wellness programs, to support the physical and emotional recovery of patients.

Impact and Future Plans
