Sanusi Adebisi Giwa of Idikan 1882 -1938 : More than a Knight

Adebisi Giwa’s act of philanthropy remain unrivaled and his benevolence culture is unparalleled in the whole of the South West.

At one end of the many rooms inside Adebisi mansion is an array of books placed on a cupboard. The books contain the names of the debtors that owed Adebisi before he passed away. Sanusi Adebisi had given the instructions that these books of debtors shouldn’t be opened neither the debtors forebears be harassed to pay back the debts. According to Iretiogo Bilesanmi, one of the grandchildren of Sanusi Adebisi Giwa and daughter of Chief Dr Busari Olaniyan Adebisi, ” the books contain the names of people that were loaned money to start their businesses and build their homes in the 1920s and 30s respectively. Adebisi Giwa gave an instruction before he died, none of those debtors or forebears should be compelled to pay. ”
