The Alexander Academy of Arts, was founded in 2014, as an art school and platform for emerging and established artists/photographers.

It is a think tank platform for research into materials and methodologies in art; equally as a space for workshops/ seminars,exhibitions and art talks.

The Alexander Academy of Art was built as a site specific(habitable space) installations, investigating the use of indigenous materials in architecture and other aboriginal nuances.

Situated on the lagoon front of Povita community in Badagry, Lagos Nigeria, it is an eco lodge structure, exploring local content in dwelling places; researching into indigenous approaches in sustainable lifestyles and the refinement of such potentials.

The Academy is a community base platform for interventions in social and environmental concerns and most importantly, nurturing of talents among the youths, and the promotion of indigenous artistic culture.

In 2020, we had a major mishap of serious wind/rain storm that damaged a big section of the structure; hence we were forced during the pandemic Covid-19, to start the rebuilding.

Through personal efforts and donations, we’ve done closed to 75% of the work so far, and we are highly depleted financially now to continue.

We need to raise N300,000.00, to put the structure ready at least for some programs to begin,while we gradually within time fully complete the project.

This is soliciting for your kind support, through donations, to raise the said amount.
We’ve fallen short already on time, as we had scheduled to begin operations by September this year… We believe we can still match the opening if we can raise the money in time.

The Academy has mentored and held residency/ workshop programs for photographers and artists alike.
