Jimoh Ojindo was born in 1918 at the sprawling town of Abeokuta in Ogun State, then it was part of the southern protectorate of Nigera immediately after the amalgamation.

He received his early education in Lagos from where he left to develop his skill in bricklaying business, though Jimoh’s voice and musical talent will not leave him. he jumped bricklaying business through financial background.

He was influenced into the music world due to his attractive voice he displayed enormously while working as a bricklayer, in a way to make the job easier and brisk. It is a popular form of relieving the stress and burden of labour among bricklayers and artisans.

His voice gave him out as he was discovered by Mr Abu, then a Sakara bandleader who persuaded him to look inwards and join his musical group.

Jimoh obliged and joined the group and was consistent on the road to fame with them. Later, he left the group and joined another band Tiamiyu Aramoka. After sometime the man with his velvet voice left and started his band of Sakara Band Group and had his early recordings with UAC at Accra, Ghana.

Jimoh Ojindo later made recordings with a group of record dealers known as Angard, where he sang ‘Ogun Owo Ori’ a song that catapulted him to fame. The song lyrics were actually on the fabulous payment of tax-rate by the indigenes of Egbaland. The album sold more than two thousand copies within Nigeria and across the west African countries. It was a phenomenon achievement for Jimoh Ojindo. The artiste with a touch of class later made albums with Decca Group Records.

For Jimoh Ojindo, everything was built around entertainment for him. as he spent his free period to watch television programmes and once again listen to good music.
