“Pneumacity Lagos” is an exhibition in Lagos, Nigeria, curated by Inês Valle and featuring the work of artist Andrew Esiebo. It explores the journeys end-of-life tyres (ELTs) in the heart of the Lagos city and aims to change how people perceive urban sustainability and contemporary art.
Unlike traditional gallery exhibitions, it takes art to the streets, particularly in areas with vulcanizer workstations.
This project, is part of the larger “Pneuma-city” initiative, that combines art and social science to address the environmental challenges of end-of-life tyres in Lagos.
The project is a collaborative effort involving engineering, social sciences and art, with international universities partnerships as University of Kent and funded by British Academy.
