I am excited to inform you of my European tour with my performance, My Orí is Kótùbà Kótùṣẹ, which will take place from July 4 – 22, 2024. The performance will be done with twith three Babalawo (Yoruba Ifa Priests) namely, Olúáwo Awóníran Fànìyì Ọmọ́yẹni Àyìnlá (Olú Áwo Ìsẹ̀kẹ̀, Oyo State), Oluwo Ifadare Igeadubi (Olú Áwo Isaka, Ota, Ogun State); and Awóníran Akínwùmí Ifámúyìíwá (Oyo Alaafin, Oyo State).

It is a one hour performance that premised on Yoruba world view and philosophy of Orí (Head) as the definition and fulcrum of the entire human body, its energy and functionalities. It adopts Yoruba ritual makings, drumming and chanting to increase the audience inner sensitivity of our humanitarian concerns on the recent crisis in the world: the “forced displacement and famine risk “in Palestine, the “danger and infrastructural destruction” in Ukraine, the “disasters and displacement crises” in Africa and other worrisome issues of shortage of food and energy; and higher inflation in all our continents.

The performance integrates the energy of Olóde (the guardian of outer space) and Adelé (the guardian of inner space); and the power of sacred spoken word, Ìyẹ̀rẹ̀ Ifá (Yoruba tonal poetry divination chants) with Yoruba rituals actions of healing and alignment of energies. It consists of sacred sound making and walking of archetype image of healing agent, recitation of sacred Ìyẹ̀rẹ̀ Ifá ( the tonal poetry of Ifá); and sacred action of healing.

The performance will take place in following cities:

i) July 6, 2024 – Paris, France at Cite Internationale, Universitaire De Paris. I will also receive Recognition of Excellence Awards from Nigerian Diaspora groups in France. The award ceremony will highlight the Cite Internationale Universitaire de Paris (CIUP)’s role in fostering cultural exchange and unity within the Nigerian community in France.

ii) July 10, 2024 – Venice, Italy at European Cultural Centre, Palazzo Mora, Strada Nuova #3659, 30121 Venezia.

iii) July 13, 2024 – Munich, Germany at Kreativlabor Festival, Kreativquartier.

iv) July 21, 2024 Lanzarote, Spain at YORÙBÁFEST, Carpa Municipal, Teguise, Lanzarote.
