We are delighted that Yetunde Ayeni-Babaeko @yetundebabaeko and Kelani Abass @abass.kelani are part of the talented artists being featured in the current Africa Rising exhibition at the Fitchburg Art Museum, @fitchburgartmuseum (FAM) celebrating 21st Century African Photography.

The exhibition is curated by Professor Jean Borgatti @jeanmborgatti, curator for African, Oceanic, and Native American Arts of FAM and runs until February 2025.
The exhibition features contemporary African Fine art photography, which has grown across the continent over the last few decades. Recurring themes include identity post colonialism, environmental exploitation and decay, female empowerment, and Afro-futurism.
FAM’s exhibition includes photographs ranging from the work of well-known photographer, such as South Africa’s Zanele Muholi, Ethioia’s Aida Muluneh and Morrocco’s Lalla Essaydi to up and coming individuals such as Wilfred Ukpong from Nigeria, Tamara Kudita from Zimbabwe and Maurice Mbikaye from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. About half of the photographers in the collection are women, reflecting the increasing number of women working in photography across the continent.
