“Archive and Memories” our upcoming exhibition features works by “Taiye Idahor”
She is a visual artist living and working in Lagos Nigeria. She studied Fine art and Sculpture at the Yaba college of Technology Lagos and her studio practice is multidisciplinary, incorporating drawing, sculpture, collage, painting and printmaking to articulate ideas of women’s identity. She also uses “hair” as a consistent visual language in her work to further explore subjects of memory, culture, tradition and modernity in relation to women’s interactions and navigation of the modern world. These interests have also set her on a path of constantly seeking ways to subsume these feminine histories, while also excavating her own ancestry and stories from her hometown of Benin City.
