His name, which means “king apparent” in Igbo culture, is fitting for a talent that shines like royalty. With oil sticks as his instrument, Ezedire’s art dances on canvas like the vibrant samba rhythms of Rio’s Carnival. His work embodies the same flair and artistry that defines Brazilian football’s “Joga Bonito” style.

His journey began with a dream, where he was taught to draw in his sleep. “I pick up my painting from dreams. I was taught in my dreams on how to paint,” he confesses.

This spiritual approval led him to choose oil sticks as his medium, and it’s a choice that has paid off in spades. Based in Abuja, he is part of a thriving art scene that’s gaining momentum in Nigeria’s capital city. He steadily honed his skills with Corel Draw and Corel Photo Paints, but it’s his innate talent that sets him apart. As a self-taught artist, Ezedire strokes are bold, expressive, and full of life. His art is an orchestra of colours, a symphony that draws you in and refuses to let go.

Ezedire was recently part of the Society of Nigerian Artists contingent that just rounded up at the Art Fair in Vancouver, Canada, where he also solidified his reputation as a rare painting auteur.
