This is exactly what celebrated Nigerian artist Biodun Omolayo brings to his upcoming solo exhibition, Path to Peace and Restoration, a compelling collection of recent works that opens inside the upscale Biodun Omolayo Gallery at Onikan, Lagos, the exhibition invites everyone into Omolayo’s journey of healing and transformation through art.

Who could forget the spectacular energy Biodun Omolayo brought to 2024? At his 60th birthday celebration, a momentous occasion still fondly remembered by friends and admirers, he revealed the profound meaning behind his name and its deep connection to his life’s journey. It was more than just a milestone; it was a celebration of purpose, legacy, and the enduring spirit of an artist who continues to inspire with every step.

Biodun Omolayo recounts his life’s journey beginning with a name full of meaning—Ojogbogbobiodun—given to him by his father, who recognized a radiant light and promise in his new-born son. It was a prophetic gesture, one that foreshadowed the brilliance and impact his life would come to embody.

In his meticulously crafted autobiography, Biodun Omolayo chose a deeply personal title, ‘Everyday is a Milestone’ a direct translation of his Yoruba name, Ojogbogbobiodun. The title reflects not just his identity, but his philosophy of life, that each day is significant, and every step forward is worth celebrating.

Biodun Omolayo is one of the thoroughbred artists that are proudly Nigerian. A graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Ilorin, who worked as a consummate banker and led two different banks a Senior Manager, the love for visual arts refused to leave him.

Just as he carries himself with effortless charm, Biodun Omolayo brings the same elegance to his academic journey. He pursued his passion at one of Nigeria’s most prestigious institutions, Yaba College of Technology, Lagos where he studied Fine Arts and graduated.

Reflecting on this pivotal chapter in his autobiography, Omolayo describes the decision as one of the most rewarding of his life, laying the foundation for a career defined by creativity, purpose, and excellence.
