A powerful new exhibition opens at Bouygues Club House, Abuja, exploring Nigerian culture through a personal lens. Writes Ireho Aito

On May 25th, 2025, the serene atmosphere of the Bouygues Club House in Abuja was transformed into a celebration of culture and identity as Klaranze Okhide unveiled his latest exhibition, Ephemeral Narratives.

This thought-provoking collection offers a visual exploration of Nigerian cultural heritage, deeply intertwined with the artist’s personal journey through immigration, self-discovery, and the evolving meaning of home.

“This series is a reflection of my personal struggles with identity,” Okhide shared at the opening. “As I explore the intersection of tradition and modernity, I want to inspire a deeper appreciation for the richness of our cultural heritage.”

The works on display fuse traditional aesthetics with contemporary themes, showcasing Okhide’s signature ability to blend visual storytelling with layered meaning. Drawing from a well of cultural memory, Ephemeral Narratives honours Nigeria’s resilient spirit while confronting the challenges of maintaining identity in a globalised world.

In a time when immigration and modern pressures continue to shape how people see themselves, the Federal Polytechnic Auchi trained Okhide’s message is clear, hold onto cultural roots with pride.

Each piece in the exhibition feels deeply personal, yet universally resonant. Visitors are invited to navigate their own questions of belonging, identity, and heritage while appreciating the beauty of Nigerian traditions.

“Nigerian culture is a confirmation to the enduring spirit of our people,” says Okhide. “This exhibition is my way of celebrating that and encouraging others to do the same.”
