Preparations are underway for the 28th edition of the Harmattan Workshop, scheduled to take place from 15 to 27 February 2026 at the Onobrak Art Centre, Agbarha-Otor, Delta State, under the auspices of the Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation.

Widely regarded as one of Africa’s most enduring and influential art workshops, the Harmattan Workshop is conceived as a living laboratory of African creativity, mastery, and transmission. Founded by renowned Nigerian artist Prof. Bruce Onobrakpeya, the initiative has, over the years, provided a unique platform for artists to converge, experiment, exchange ideas, and engage in rigorous studio practice across disciplines.

The forthcoming 2026 edition is expected to sustain this tradition, offering participants an immersive two-week experience of artistic production, mentorship, critical dialogue, and collaborative exploration. The workshop’s philosophy emphasises innovation rooted in cultural memory, technical excellence, and the intergenerational transmission of artistic knowledge.

Hosted within the distinctive environment of the Onobrak Art Centre, the Harmattan Workshop continues to play a vital role in the development of contemporary African art, influencing generations of artists and cultural practitioners from Nigeria and beyond.
