The girl – child matures into woman and breeds more to grow the nation. The reason any nation worth its salt should take the girl – child’s upbringing seriously.

Erelu Abiola Dosunmu Kuti IV, surely, knows the essence and power of the girl – child, as someone, despite her royal status witnessed a whole lot of horror bestowed on the girl – child because of the girl child vulnerabilities. And the reason, she decided to float a Foundation to nurture, mentor, support and defend the girl – child, indigent women and widows through support and grants in financial means, educational support through scholarships and subsidies.

The Erelu Yeye Odua Foundation has come to stay and very reliable to give and heal the nation. “ Women accelerate investment” according to Erelu. “And through the foundation, we have dedicated ourselves to grooming women,” she revealed further.

Erelu Abiola Dosunmu, extols the virtue of the Nigerian woman at the International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month on the 8th of March 2024, at Erelu Yeye Odua Cultural Renaissance Center on No. 8 Oyinkan Abayomi Drive in Ikoyi, Lagos. As she clamours for the support of the menfolk in supporting by giving out their shoulders to women to lean on. In her words, women are leaders. They are strong and very reliable. They create happiness and build life and lives we live in and live with.

The royal mother did not disappoint her audience at the gathering, when she took them down memory lane, explaining the sterling qualities of the Nigerian woman right from hawking to eke a living and putting food and money on the family’s table down to becoming a boardroom player with high level command with business acumen.

She enthused further, revealing the impact a mother will continue to have on the girl – child.

It was an evening designed for Eves of our time.

The evening was titled ‘Inspired Eves’ and the eves indeed turned out to be inspired.

According to one of the vanguards of Erelu Yeye Odua Foundation, Mrs. Ololade Elizabeth Alonge, the foundation is determined to eradicate poverty among women and give them that source of belonging. Inequality shouldn’t be a virtue in a modern society and women deserves the attention as the menfolk in all human endeavours. A part, the foundation is all ready playing and a path the foundation has started leading on.

She affirmed that when a woman is empowered, light shines upon the family.

Girls from schools such as Ireti Primary School, Mekunwen, Bourdillion Road, Ikoyi were beneficiaries of the feeding program support by the foundation. While Indigent women from Lagos, skilled and unskilled and widows were empowered by the foundation through support and grants to float back into the society.

The women, eves in their own right, appreciated the impact the foundation has played in their lives. A joyful moment to behold celebrating humanity.
