ARTROAD |Path to Peace and Restoration – Curatorial Message

CURATORIAL MESSAGE by Moses Ohiomokhare

One would be encouraged when you visit the studio of Biodun Omolayo
to see his body of works, and experience firsthand, what motivates him. You become more informed, and get to know how well his works fit into his theme. Biodun has always been an inspiration and a well organized artist.

Path To Peace and Restoration is an exhibition that serves as a bridge between the seen and the unseen. We are invited to the depth of our emotion and the intricate dance of form and color. Each canvas is a battleground where spontaneity and precision coexist and you enjoy his bright and varied use of light.

Biodun challenges the viewers to peel back the layers to find each piece is a dialogue and a piece of a larger conversation. It is a homage to resilience spirit urging us to redirect the spirit to our maker. We have been hostile to our environment and have not enjoyed maximum benefit from its usage. The silent industry of nature is God’s industry and is peace- loving and recreates itself effortlessly. It is logical to refer to our maker and live by his rules if we desire peace. We must revisit the relentless spirit that drives us towards wrong judgement. We have currently failed our maker.

Biodun Omolayo is an established artist with more than 35 years of practice. He studied Performing Art in University of Ilorin, had some working experience in the banking industry before proceeding to the famous Yaba College of Technology where he specialized in graphic Art. He did a post-graduate study in Museum study and Children’s programme in the UK and has since successfully been running children and teenagers programmes in Omolayo Art Gallery.

His works are philosophical and spiritual reminding his audience, that you reap what you sow. It also means, each process or event have consequences. You should therefore not be tired of doing what is right, because you gain or lose any of your past act.

His background as a Christian readily comes to bear and makes him encourage his audience to sow the seed of truth and the seed of hope and love. Path to peace and Restoration calls for perseverance as there is dignity in labour of love.

Biodun is proficient with his medium and there is precision and control as he demonstrates mastery of his work. Path to Peace; Multiple Streams; and many others are masterpieces that evoke emotions and provoke thoughts in the viewer. The works no doubt create a lasting impression on his audience

I have had a cohesive and engaging experience and invite you to come and let your eyes wonder and let your heart respond. It is indeed a spectacular showing.

Welcome and enjoy it
