Abdoulaye Konaté (b. 1953) is a Malian artist whose monumental textile-based works explore power, spirituality, and socio-political tensions. A graduate of the National Institute of Arts in Bamako and the Higher Institute of Arts in Havana, Konaté weaves colour, symbol, and story into immersive environments. He is also a key figure in West Africa’s cultural landscape, founding Mali’s national conservatory in 2002 and shaping generations of artists. His work is held in global collections including MoMA, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, and the Musée du Quai Branly.
