Olumide Onadipe returns to the spotlight with a compelling new exhibition at SOTO Gallery, titled The Earth Holds Our Names, running from April 19 to May 31, 2026.

A multidisciplinary artist, Onadipe is known for his inventive sculptural language that interrogates the relationship between materiality and socio-political realities. His practice resists overt declarations, instead offering layered, tactile works that invite reflection through form, texture, and suggestive titling. In this new body of work, he deepens his exploration of environmental consciousness, transforming everyday materials into objects that oscillate between playfulness and critique.

Onadipe holds a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the University of Lagos. His work has been featured internationally, including at the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden, and ART X Lagos.

He has held four solo exhibitions, including Connecting the Dots (2018), and his work has also been presented at the START Art Fair (2018) and Art Context Miami (2019), further cementing his presence on the global art stage.

His career is further distinguished by residencies and collaborations, including the Arthouse Contemporary residency and Open Studios (2016), the Colours of Hope project with the Children Living with Cancer Foundation (2014), and the American Nigerian Cultural Collaborative Project with the US Consulate and Nike Art Gallery (2013).

The Earth Holds Our Names promises an immersive encounter with Onadipe’s evolving visual language, one that blurs the boundary between object and meaning, urging viewers to reconsider how materials carry memory, identity, and the weight of shared histories.
