ARTROAD | Night of Tribute: Nigerian Art Community Honours the Legacy of Dr. Paul Chike

The Nigerian art community will gather in Abuja on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, for a solemn and reflective “Night of Tribute” in honour of the late Dr. Paul Chike Dike, the pioneer Director-General of the National Gallery of Art.

Organised by the National Gallery of Art, the evening is designed to celebrate the life, vision and enduring cultural contributions of a man widely regarded as one of the architects of Nigeria’s contemporary art institutional landscape. Over the years, Dr. Dike played a defining role in advancing Nigerian art, championing artists, exhibitions and cultural preservation across the country and beyond.

The tribute event will hold at Novare Mall, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, bringing together artists, curators, collectors, cultural stakeholders and admirers whose lives and careers were shaped by his influence. It promises to be an evening of remembrance, gratitude and honour for a legacy that continues to inspire the Nigerian creative community.
