Nurudeen Popoola returns with another important chapter in his artistic journey through his third solo exhibition titled The Quiet Between Us at TR Gallery.

Since his memorable duo exhibition Off Confines curated by Moses Ohiomokhare at QGallery alongside his teacher, mentor and master sculptor Dr. Adeola Balogun, young and dynamic painter Nurudeen Popoola has continued to deepen his place within the evolving landscape of contemporary African art. The exhibition itself was celebrated by iBAND Magazine as “a convergence of narratives” that transformed QGallery into “a cultural oasis,” introducing wider audiences to Popoola’s emotionally layered visual language and his distinctive blue-toned figures.

Over the years, Popoola has steadily built a body of work around memory, identity, African heritage and human stillness. From his solo exhibition Evolve to the introspective We Are All Blue, the artist has become recognised for his recurring indigo and cobalt-blue figures, a visual direction inspired partly by Adire traditions and creating a strong and unique identity for the brilliant artist.

Known for layered compositions that draw from everyday African experiences and inner reflection, Popoola’s evolving practice has steadily attracted attention within artistic circles.

 

True to the meaning of his surname, “Popoola” that is, ‘the illustrious path to wealth,’ the young artist appears to be building not merely material success, but a rich visual language shaped by introspection, memory and emotional stillness.

Now, Popoola returns with another important chapter in his artistic journey through his third solo exhibition titled The Quiet Between Us at TR Gallery.

In what reads both as an invitation and an artist’s meditation, Popoola reflects on the silence beneath everyday human experience;

“Something happens when the noise of the world fades and the canvas begins to speak. I am thrilled to announce my third Solo Exhibition, ‘The Quiet Between Us,’ opening at TR Gallery, Ikoyi Lagos. This body of work explores the unspoken dialogues and the profound stillness that connects us all, shifting from the physical to the metaphysical. In these works, I invite you to step into the silence. It is not an absence of sound, but a presence of something deeper.”

‘The Quiet Between Us,’ Nurudeen Popoola solo exhibition is scheduled for May 23, 2026, and the exhibition promises an intimate encounter with silence, colour, purpose and matter.
